Zora Neale Hurston FL Education Foundation
I am a true Florida native as I was born in Palm Beach County (Pahokee), and I grew up and went to school in Fort Pierce. I am a retired academic counselor from Indian River State College
and I have served on the Zora Neale Hurston Florida Education Foundation since 2019. I have served in several capacities but my current one is treasurer.
I enjoy being involved in my community as I have served on the board of directors of the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council from 2003 until it sunset in 2006. I was part of the Zora Fest committee and the Mini Grant Committee.
During my tenue on the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council, we had several Zora Festivals and Highwaymen Festivals. I was also involved with the Art in Public Places committee where I assisted in choosing some of the public art that is currently displayed around town. In addition, I served on the Board of Directors for the Treasure Coast International Film Society from 2007-2010 and Lincoln Park Main Street from 2013 to 2020. Serving my community is my way of helping others.
